A Guide to a having a good stay in London

The following pages offer visitors a guide to London and all it has to offer from how to get around to the daily, weekly and annual events held in the city.

London as most folks know is the capital of England and is home to around eight million people and around another 700,000 visitors at any given time during the year. London is not a small city, in fact it’s fairy huge covering an area of over 600 square miles.

London is not only the capital city of the of England but is also the seat of its monarchy which is Buckingham Palace where Queen Elizabeth resides.

Many of London's famous areas are local  neighbourhoods so a little out of the way and off the regular tourist route but are still famous in their own right like Abbey road for example but they still attract several million visitors a year.

The following guide to the city represents all of London's most famous areas from historical and cultural to nightlife and entertainment and all areas and attractions can be reached via tube, bus or taxi or even by the new "Boris Bikes".

London's top visitor / tourist areas include

Oxford Street

Mayfair

Soho Village

Covent Garden

London Bridge

Waterloo

Westminster

Knightsbridge

Chelsea

Notting Hill

The West End

Camden Town

Getting around to the different areas,

London's Underground system is the easiest way to get around the city and is used by most people, visitors and locals alike on a daily basis so is fairly busy all day and night and crazy at rush hour.

During the summer months it is almost unbearable as it is not air-conditioned and the heat can be over powering but still is the best way to get around the city.
